Staying Young the French Way
i stan mary h.k. choi's adult autism article and more + Kendrick, SOPHIE
welcome to the rave tent, a continuous mix of recent articles, shows, books, and more worth raving about.
this week: Grandma Majo, plus two articles I can’t stop thinking about (I cried!). Scroll to b2b for 2 very different music geniuses making headlines lately.
The Parisian Agency
A reality show about a French family in high-end luxury real estate.
Watch for the dynamics between the parents, the grandmother, the sons, the sons’ families, and exposure to very French culture.
The properties are absurd (castles!), and the clientele are interesting/demanding, but I watch specifically for Majo, an inspiration in being young at heart, even in your mid-80s (while looking 65!).
She lives next door, wears dresses with sneakers, a leather jacket, is cool being set up on a senior-dating site by her grandsons, and is respected by each of them. Stream starting with season 1 (more Majo) on Netflix.

My “Difficult Character” by Mary H.K. Choi
You may have seen this around because it was very shared. It was also out there as “My Adult Autism Diagnosis Saved My Marriage.” Like anything heart-piercing, it’s about that and much more at the same time. On her Instagram story, Mary H.K. Choi said it could almost be looked at like a final piece of a trilogy of sorts, with this as the first, and this as the second. I recommend reading all of them, maybe in order.
The Burden of a Friend’s Mental Health
This advice column from mixed feelings is about being at a crossroads with a close friend struggling with their mental health. I probably should’ve had a Dr. Nikki in my life. The part about “survivor’s guilt” struck a tearful chord.
back 2 back music picks that i need to talk about or my soul suffocates
4th of July felt like a celebration when Kendrick Lamar dropped “Not Like Us,” the video. 18 diabolical seconds of a new song to start and layers of meaning through the rest, this music video belongs in a museum. When is the album? When is the tour?
Arguably, no one would be having a brat summer if it wasn’t for SOPHIE. Posthumous releases can be disappointing but knowing how closely she worked with her brother, that her family and the right collaborators are involved has fans trusting this. After hearing “Reason Why,” feat. Kim Petras and BC Kingdom, I screamed, then pre-ordered the album, due in September.
and the owl represents Drake 🤭 even the LA public library got in on their beef with a well-played social post https://www.instagram.com/reel/C9Dq3tVSWps
Wow. Owl in a cage. Thanks for the share.
